A grande produtividade, contudo, n\u00e3o \u00e9 a marca pela qual ficar\u00e1 conhecido. Ao longo dos anos, o decano se tornou uma das vozes mais respeitadas da Corte e deixou sua marca na jurisprud\u00eancia do tribunal, ajudando a ditar os posicionamentos do Supremo em temas de direitos humanos, defesa das minorias e direitos dos investigados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O decano adota a linha garantista, que prefere mais a cautela, que, ao escolher, prefere assegurar direitos dos acusados frente aos \u00f3rg\u00e3os do Estado, mesmo que eventualmente seus defensores sejam acusados de mais lenientes.
